Garden Open Dates for 2016

We regret we are not opening for a specific weekend for NGS visitors due to parking problems.  We will however welcome groups by previous arrangement in February 2016.

The new water feature is almost finished and the rockeries are now grassy slopes making less work for us.  The snowdrops are doing well and the “babies” – chips taken in June 2015 are beginning to come up.  I think we now have around 500 different varieties.

Thank you to the 2015 NGS Visitors

Spring Platt was open for the NGS on 7th and 8th February this year and for the first time the weather was quite pleasant. Previous years we have had snow, rain and high winds but we were lucky and although cold it was sunny and dry.

Saturday we had 59 people come and on Sunday there were 144. The snowdrops were looking good but the aconites and iris reticulate were not quite at their best and needed another 2 weeks.

The Millens and daughter, Julie, would like to thank all those who came and hope they enjoyed the garden, soup/cake.

2015 NGS Weather Update

As usual the weather is looking far from ideal this weekend. Please wrap up warm and if you have any concerns about snow and road conditions please do contact us. Regular visitors will know car parking can be tricky in poor weather so please bear with us. Most snowdrops can be reached on hard standing but he rest of the garden will be muddy so please bring suitable footwear.

Spring Platt Garden open 7th and 8th February 2015 for the NGS

Spring Platt Garden is open on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th February 2015 (11am to 3pm) in aid of the National Garden Scheme (NGS). We hope to see our regular visitors and any new faces and show off our brand new water feature!

Thank you to all NGS visitors

Many thanks to all those intrepid gardeners who braved the weather at the weekend. 70 people came on Saturday which proved the worst day with heavy showers of rain and sleet with high winds but some bright spells in between. Sunday, with 99 visitors, was actually the best day weatherwise we have had for a long time. The snowdrops looked good and enjoyed the sun.

The majority of people came indoors to warm up and had either soup or the cake on offer and then off to the plant stalls. When our sums are complete – a cheque will be sent to the NGS for over £700.00 – so thanks to all visitors and all helpers who make the weekend possible and worthwhile.

We look forward to seeing you next year.

Carolyn and Julie

Weather Update

Dear all,

Just an update about this weekend. The garden is open from 11 – 3 Saturday and Sunday. However the weather is looking terrible and with all the rain we are unable to use the lawn for parking, we will park you as quickly as possible but please bear with us. Most snowdrops can be reached on hard standing but he rest of the garden will be muddy so please bring appropriate footwear.

Spring Platt Garden is open on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th February 2014 in aid of the National Garden Scheme (NGS). We look forward to seeing our regular visitors and any new faces.

Thank you to all NGS visitors

We would like to thank everyone who braved the cold weather to visit Spring Platt over the weekend in aid of the NGS. We were amazed at the numbers 263 visitors in total. Gallons of soup consumed with the bread and lots of tea and cakes also and I think everyone enjoyed looking around.

This is the only opening for the NGS but group bookings are welcome by appointment. Please see yellow book or check website for opening times for 2014.
